For the month of February, our school is hosting a Read-a-thon challenge for students. This year’s theme is Lego City. The whole school is participating in this challenge. Every Tuesday and Friday, classrooms will view our Read-a-thon challenge videos and will be updated on our school’s reading progress.

The objective is to promote a month of reading and to read in and out of class time. Your child will be provided with a Reading Calendar to take home each day to record the reading minutes. The calendar is to keep track of their individual reading minutes in class, with the challenge of continuing to read for 20 minutes, or more, each day at home. Reading minutes include time spent reading on their own, as well as time being read to.

As mentioned in our school newsletter, I will be posting photos of student’s Lego builds from home in our video updates. If your child would like to share their creation, please email a photo to tracy.walker@sd8.bc.ca. The photo can be of your child and the Lego, or the just the Lego creation, whatever they prefer.
