ARES Family Update - Feb. 4, 2022
Family Update – February 4
We have reached February!!! With many events, activities, and the short number of days, February is going to fly by. Students have been enjoying the snow and all the fun that winter brings, but with the weather still being cold we ask that children are continuing to bring their warm clothes and snow gear to enjoy all our breaks and outside times.
Read-a-thon - For the month of February, our school will be hosting a Read-a-thon challenge for students. Your child’s class will be participating in this challenge. The objective is to read frequently in and out of class time to earn points based on the reading minutes of every student participating.
Your child will be provided with a reading record calendar to keep track of reading minutes in class with the challenge of continuing to read 20 minutes, or more, each day at home. Reading minutes include time spent reading as well as time being read to.
The theme for our Read-a-thon is Minecraft, and the goal for the month is to earn enough points to defeat the Enderdragon. Each Tuesday and Friday Mrs. Walker (ARES Teacher/Librarian) will be releasing a video to show the students their progress in reaching the goal, we will post these videos on the website for parents to follow along with the school’s progress.
